Alaska guv to Sen. Reid: Start drilling in ANWR!
Posted: June 24, 2008
Figure (click to enlarge): The Honorable Sarah Palin, governor of Alaska, addressed the benefits of an Alaskan natural gas pipeline to offer clean, safe energy to the whole United States. “What we do in Alaska can help stabilize energy markets and provide safe energy,” she said. Palin noted that natural resources in Alaska are held by the residents of that state and entrusted to the state for appropriate management. Therefore, it is critical that parties involved in extracting and using those resources practice transparency, safety, and consideration of other resources. Entry: In a letter to Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and other key leaders, Alaska Republican Gov. Sarah Palin urges Congress to allow drilling for oil on the Outer Continental Shelf and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in northern Alaska, an area she calls "the most promising unexplored petroleum province in North America."
"What will it take for Congress to enact comprehensive energy policy?" Palin asks in the letter, dated yesterday. "In my opinion, the debate about energy policy is no longer theoretical and abstract. Our failure to enact an energy policy is having real consequences for every American in their daily lives and has begun to affect America's place in the world."
Essence: Palin says in her letter she does not guarantee a price drop with drilling in ANWR but argues increasing domestic oil supply would "help reduce price volatility" and "send a strong message to oil speculators."
Palin's letter argues against looking only to those approaches, pointing out a need for domestic oil production to supply the economy's many products made from petroleum, not just gasoline.
Excerpts: "The soaring prices of chemicals, plastics, fertilizer and other products – and the loss of jobs – graphically illustrate this point," the letter states. "We must recognize that is will be many years, if ever, before we discover alternatives to the petroleum-based products that every American uses in our daily lives."
McCain and Palin: Wrestling in the Oil

Entry: Johnny Mac is opposed to drilling in ANWR to tap our rich Alaskan oil reserves and lower our gas prices. But he claims that, as a Federalist, he supports individual states’ decisions to drill where they choose. He says Louisiana wanted to, and that’s okay with him. He says Florida choses not to, and that’s okay too.
But if we take McCain at his word, then he’s going to have to answer to Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who says her state wants to drill, just like Louisiana.
Essence: Note that the area she wants to drill is about as large as LAX airport. Hardly the lanscape-wrecking, seal and polar bear killer the enviro-nuts whine about.
As noted in this post, Sarah Palin is not only good looking; she’s good for you. She is the future of the Republican Party. McCain is the past. We may have to wait a little longer, but Palin will be there to fight the fight for America’s future.

Why I Support Sarah Palin

Entry: If she doesn't want the Vice Presidential nomination, then Alaska governor Sarah Palin at least wants a higher political profile. In her letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Palin scornes the Congress, saying "Our failure to enact an energy policy is having real consequences for every American in their daily lives and is beginning to effect their daily lives and has begun to effect America's place in the world."
Calling ANWR "the most promising unexplored oil resource in North America," Governor Palin was relentless in her insistance that ANWR must be explored and exploited, and also made clear her support for drilling in the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS).

She was gladhandling the crowd, and didn't seem to notice the guy with the huge telephoto lens following her for about 400 feet along the parade route. Then she looked up and noticed me, flashing me the look above.

A quote - "ANCHORAGE (Reuters) - Alaska’s Sarah Palin has made a habit of taking on big opponents and winning, but the Republican governor is facing her toughest fight yet after locking horns with the state’s powerful oil industry. Palin, 44 has taken direct aim at the traditional comfortable partnership between the big three oil companies in the state - BP , ConocoPhillips, and Exxon Mobil, and the state Republican party. “The oil companies have been hugely influential in Alaska, certainly over the last decade and a half with the prior two administrations,” Palin told Reuters in a recent interview."

A small quote - "I think its obvious from these pictures how Alaska Governor Sarah Palin feels about wildlife conservation. Like many Alaskans, Palin believes that bears – and all Alaskan wildlife, exist for the sole purpose of serving humans. Sarah Palin, and the Alaska Board of Game whose members make decisions about most wildlife, are actively trying to cripple the bear viewing/eco-tourism industry in Alaska. This photograph (left) was published in the Anchorage Daily News amidst great controversy over the hunting of habituated bears around Katmai National Park and the McNeil River Sanctuary. Several weeks before the controversial Katmai Preserve hunt, Palin posed deliberately next to a dead bear to a make a point – that she will do everything in her power to make sure bears and other wildlife are mercilessly shot for pleasure in Alaska. Palin supports the aerial hunting of wolves and bears, and even spent $400,000 of state money to fund a media campaign to try and convince Alaskans to support aerial shooting (even though Alaskans have voted against it, twice!)."
Bravo Mrs Palin - don't give up to those morons! I sincerely support Mrs Palin. She makes sound decisions. She was elected to govern and to lead, not to pander morons' whims even if they are in millions! A number of votes never constitutes the truth or righteousness! You democratic jerks!

I thought I would share some of them with you, as I beleive they illustrate how effective she could be on the campaign trail and as a spokeswoman for America. I particularly love the ones of the Governor visiting our troops, I couldn't help but get the eerie feeling that they were beamed back from the future and I was watching Vice-President Palin boosting morale on a trip to Iraq. A quote - "It has been mentioned in places that McCain might need a woman or a minority on the ticket to offset whatever combination the Dems choose. Though still relatively new to major league politics, Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska has been mentioned as a rising GOP star and possible Vice-Presidential running mate for John McCain. Fred Barnes loves her. First, she’s a whole lot better looking than McCain, Hillary, and Obama.". :) :) :)
